Unilever is Entering the Hemp Seed and CBD Consumer Product Markets

 

 

 

(Originally Posted April 14, 2019) - The European consumer products giant, Unilever, has announced plans to enter the US market for hemp and CBD products.  

 

Unilever, through its Schmidt’s Naturals brand will be launching a line of hemp seed oil deodorants this fall in the United States. The products will initially be available in 13 to 14 states.

 

Schmidt’s Naturals’ CEO, Michael Cammarata, indicated that they have been developing  products that include CBD for the past year and a half. He was quoted as saying that Schmidt’s Naturals intends to bring a CBD product line to the US market later in the fall, assuming that some of the regulatory issues regarding CBD have been resolved.  

 

Cammarata also stated, “We believe CBD will be the most powerful thing to happen to personal care products this decade so we are keeping track of state laws and federal requirements.”
